Backstreet Boys
Backstreet Boys were the first boy band to be signed under Lou Pearlman. The boy band comprises of AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell. The band practiced in Lou’s air hangar and traveled around the country to perform their songs. “I put the money out to help them,” Pearlman said to ABC News. “We’d give them choreographers. We’d give them vocal lessons. We’d give them tutors. … I think I’m a great cultivator.”
The band broke through in Europe in 1997 and grew a worldwide fanbase with albums like Backstreet’s Back and Millennium. Littrell sued Pearlman and Trans Continental in 1998 after years of lying about money’s whereabouts and making himself the sixth member of the band in their contract.
