Men’s Sunglasses Trends 2024: Sporty Frames, Tinted Lenses, & 5 Other Summer Trends

It seems like every celeb has been captured in sporty sunglasses, which usually come in the form of wraparound shades. A-list fans include Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Bella Hadid, and so many more. But what exactly are wraparound sunglasses? It says it all in the name; they wrap around and almost hug your face. I’m convinced the tighter fit helps wearers achieve a sleeker, streamlined look, and perhaps they even make the face appear more contoured and lifted.

Guy Fieri, is that you? Eyres’ Razor Sunglasses channel the food icon so well. I love how this pair is curved on the top to add a bit more coverage. Slip into a racerback tank, a pair of long jorts, your fave sneakers, and these fiery hot shades for an outfit that’s soon to become your summer uniform.

While I typically spot wraparound sunglasses in black and other neutral colors, these Ray-Bans sure do bring some fun and uniqueness to the table. This pair features a straight and slightly angled cut on top, which is perfect if you’re going for a more off-duty model vibe.

Futuristic Vibe

You might be wondering how the sporty and futuristic vibes vary, and the biggest difference by far is that the latter typically adopts sharper, more angular cuts. Some futuristic sunglasses are one straight band, almost like a rectangle (see the middle and right images above). Others take on innovative, razor-sharp, or even jagged edges (see the left image above). Regardless, the look you’re left with will likely give more Tron, rave bae, or Kim Kardashian bug-eye sunnies.

When I think of futuristic sunglasses, I envision blocky frames that resemble shields. This Prada pair is the perfect example, and the touch of white on the top corners makes them look even more futuristic.

This shape of sunglasses is verrrry Kim K-coded. While this Balenciaga pair isn’t necessarily bug-eye style, it’s still very much futuristic in the way the frames curve upwards, almost giving the illusion of a cat eye.

Tinted Lenses

Of all the fashion week street style photos I scrolled through, tinted lenses popped up the most. Tinted lenses come in all shapes and sizes, whether you go for a cat-eye frame with yellow lenses or a retro, oversized silhouette with red lenses. If you’re not much of a color person, this trend adds vibrancy to your look in a super subtle way.

So many tinted lenses are a golden yellow or orange hue (like the ones below), which is why I love these softer yellow frames. The Helix Sunglasses feature metal frames and a slimmer silhouette that, together, look so luxe.

Find me a cooler pair of pink sunglasses—I’ll wait. These Gentle Monster Ex SR3 shades make me think that the perfect tinted sunglasses really do exist. The goggle-shaped sunnies look just as fab from the front as they do from the sides (peep the silver details on the temples). If you’re browsing for statement sunglasses that’ll earn you loads of compliments, feel free to end your search here because these are drop-dead gorgeous.

Oversized Silhouettes

There’s plenty in fashion that looks better in oversized versions. Take, for example, baggy jeans, roomy tees, and ludicrously capacious bags. I can’t forget oversized sunglasses that are reminiscent of the groovy 1970s, though. If you’re searching for a shape that will be the first thing people spot when they glance at you, get yourself a lavish pair of oversized sunglasses that scream Upper East Side and Beverly Hills.

Giant cat-eye sunglasses are the best way to appear like you belong on a beach in Europe. The cat-eye style already has a luxe feel, but mix that with oversized frames, and you’ve got one bougie-looking pair of sunnies. Saint Laurent’s Mica Sunglasses definitely give quiet luxury or stealth wealth vibes.

This combination of oversized frames and chunky designs deserves a chef’s kiss. There’s something a little Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen about these Ray-Bans. Style them with an otherwise basic or minimalistic outfit so that the sunglasses are the star of the show.

Colorful Frames

If you, like me, have a closet filled with greys, blacks, beiges, browns, and whites, vibrant frames are the perfect way to add a pop of color to your otherwise pretty toned-down outfit. They’ll serve as an eye-catching point of interest that’ll have everyone asking where you got your daring sunglasses. Have some fun with this trend, whether it’s through a bold red pair (everyone and their grandma are wearing bright and cherry red hues right now) or an even bolder multi-color pair.

Remember when I said everyone’s wearing oversized fashion pieces? The same can be said of its opposite. Micro skirts, micro shorts, micro bags, and micro sunglasses are all emerging trends that show no sign of stopping any time soon. If you’re on the hunt for a lighter silhouette that barely skims your eyelid and doesn’t cover too much skin at all, get yourself a pair of slim sunglasses.

Slim sunglasses come in many forms, but perhaps the trendiest is when it’s rectangle-shaped and features a low-slung profile. Example: Chimi’s 10 Black Sunglasses.
