Menswear is becoming more and more experimental. Designers are playing around with different colors, silhouettes, and textures. Take a look at the latest red carpets, for example. Stars like Colman Domingo, Andrew Garfield, Tyler James Williams, Lewis Hamilton, and Paul Mescal are proof that menswear is just as exciting as womenswear—with accessories taking center stage. Hollywood’s leading men are rocking everything from statement brooches to eye-catching watches. However, there’s one accessory category that has me particularly excited: sunglasses

Growing up, my dad stuck to two styles of shades: the Ray-Ban aviator and wayfarer. Through the years, however, he switched things up, trying different designs from brands like Tom Ford, Oakley, and Carrera. And like my dad, the industry has also evolved. Today, there are so many different types of sunnies for the fellas, and the spring/summer 2025 runways served as evidence. I’m talking oversized, ultra slim, and beyond. Brands like Casablanca and Emporio Armani gave us skinny legends; Amiri and Mihara Yasuhiro put yellow lenses on our radar; and Vetements and Junya Watanabe made us rethink performance glasses.

If you’re wondering why, as a guy, you may need so many different types of sunglasses in your collection, let me enlighten you. There are some sunglasses that are great for vacation, lounging in the sun, and there are other styles that are better suited for black tie occasions, like a wedding or ball. Certain sunglasses look great with a white T-shirt, classic blue jeans, and loafers while others make more sense with sweatpants and sneakers. So, as you look into expanding your sunglasses collection, keep scrolling to see the latest trends.
