Men’s Sweater Trends 2025: Festive Vests, Classic Pullovers, & Statement Cardigans

The weather outside is frightful, but winter fashion will always be delightful. The colder months give us reason to really bring it when it comes to style. We can pull out the fur, rock the boots, and accessorize with hats and scarves. The options are endless. However, no winter outfit is complete without a base–and that base is usually a good knit. As I did trend research for 2025, I couldn’t help but notice that sweaters were giving main character energy—especially in the menswear department. Major fashion houses sent models down their spring/summer 2025 runways wearing knits that featured bright hues and bold silhouettes—blending that perfectly with classic designs that some of us may already have in our rotation. I’m talking about lime green cutout vests from Versace, fitted cardigans from Dolce & Gabbana, and artful turtlenecks from Dior. 

The great thing about sweaters is that they can be worn in a plethora of ways, for a plethora of occasions. You can throw on a knit and baggy jeans for work or happy hour. You can style a cardigan over athleisure for a post-gym coffee date. You can throw on a cable pullover with leather pants for an engagement party. 

If you’re looking to rebuild your sweater collection, start with a few timeless pieces and throw in something fun, like a hot pink crewneck. This way you can repeat the knit with a variety of different bottoms. If you’re looking to breathe new life into your wardrobe, pull out the cable, fair isle, or argyle styles. Consider pairing these go-to pieces with something different like cargos, balloon pants, or matching knit trousers.
