Are you ready for the first Mercury retrograde of 2025? The time has come, and you may have felt the winds of change blow in a different direction over the past few weeks. Although you might not be ready for it, Mercury retrograde 2025 will affect each zodiac sign. Luckily, the ongoing Venus retrograde 2025 and the full moon total lunar eclipse in Virgo have already prepped you for this Mercury retrograde.

Revered as the cosmic messenger, Mercury rules over communication, analysis, and thought processes. This brainiac planet will detail how you take in and relay everything around you. Mercury’s astute intelligence can present as witty banter, fastidious studying, or the desire to understand through connection. No other planet thinks as much as Mercury does. Since Mercury’s mental prowess is always on the go, you may feel like there are endless opportunities to learn and talk about something new. Through conversation and interest, Mercury represents the ability to relate on a mental level.

Unfortunately, Mercury stations retrograde far more often than any other celestial body. On average, Mercury will station retrograde three to four times per year. Although there are numerous Mercury retrogrades, each one is quite short-lived in comparison to any other planet’s retrograde duration. Typically, Mercury retrograde lasts around three weeks. During this time, you’re encouraged to pause any new conversations, schools of thought, or interests. Mercury retrograde will rewind time as you reconsider past events, connections, and discussions. You may have something left to learn when you look at the past with a new lens.

Mercury will station retrograde in Aries on March 15, at 2:46 a.m. ET, which will occur at 9 degrees. As Mercury retrograde begins, you should expect to hear from past connections, handle travel issues, experience technical glitches, and be part of overwhelming conversations. The underlying Aries energy will add fuel to the fire. You might feel increasingly frustrated. Dealing with half-wits, stagnancy, restlessness, and unexpected problems could raise your blood pressure. However, Aries’ instinctual energy could encourage you to think on your feet by taking charge of whatever comes your way. Just try not to blow a gasket during the first half of Mercury retrograde

This retrograde reaches a climactic moment on March 24, when a Mercury cazimi occurs as Mercury retrograde in Aries sits in the heart of the Aries sun. A cazimi happens when a planet is emboldened by entering the heart of the sun. Think of a cazimi as a gift from the cosmos, especially during a retrograde. A brief moment of clarity will come if you are dealing with anything impractical, insecure, or unsure. Helpful information could come to light through a Universal download or a messenger. Whatever happens during a cazimi could help you figure out how to push through the remaining retrograde period.

There will be a do-or-die moment, as Pluto in Aquarius intensifies Mercury retrograde in Aries on March 25. Although clarity came just yesterday, you might feel pressured to decide your next course of action. You might feel like it’s now or never, but this might not be the case. Someone or something might want to force you into a hasty decision. Don’t get ahead of yourself if you’re not ready. You deserve to feel confident, informed, and self-assured when you want to take the next steps. Know that you have plenty of time to circle back to this potential decision, move, or plan.

The second half of Mercury retrograde will commence, when Mercury retrograde leaves Aries for Pisces on March 29. As expected, there will still be issues regarding travel, communication, and technology. However, Mercury will be exiled, which will create notable chaos. Because the cosmic messenger is at its weakest state, you may have more trouble handling the typical Mercury retrograde problems. You may feel deluded, confused, and out of touch with reality. Grounding yourself will help you regain your strength while Mercury retrograde in Pisces is ongoing.

You might feel notably lost once Mercury retrograde in Pisces aligns with Neptune in Pisces on March 29. Although everything may have appeared clearer just a few days ago, you could feel like you’re back at square one. Trying to make sense of the nonsensical will only drive you mad. It won’t be the time to reason with an unreasonable person or figure out a solution to a never-ending problem. Instead, walk away from any tough conversations and mysteries. Have faith that you will find what you need to know when the time is right.

Fate and destiny will intervene, as Mercury retrograde in Pisces aspects the South Node of Karma and the North Node of Fate on April 4. You might receive word of something you could have inquired about, manifested, or thought of. Someone might also make a comment that pulls the picture together. Regardless of what information comes to light, you may not appreciate how it comes out. Tone, turf, and timing might be all wrong, so try not to take anything personally. You might be in a better place to receive this information in about a week once the retrograde is over.

Finally, Mercury will station direct in Pisces on April 7, at 7:07 a.m. ET, which will occur at 26 degrees. On this day, the newly direct cosmic messenger will connect with several heavenly bodies: Venus retrograde in Pisces, Mars in Cancer, Saturn in Pisces, Uranus in Taurus, the South Node of Karma, and the North Node of Fate. As the cosmic energy swirls, you might feel unexpectedly positive about your next steps. You may feel more sure-footed and attuned than ever before, which will help you confidently navigate the remainder of Venus retrograde. Trust that the Universe has your back as you process everything you have learned from the retrograde during the post-shadow period.

Mercury retrograde will begin in Aries on March 15 and end in Pisces on April 7.

Despite the retrograde ending, the post-shadow period will last until April 26, 2025. As you work through the post-shadow period, think about everything that happened during the retrograde. Post-shadow periods offer you a chance to get it right. You can course-correct, apologize, make amends, and more. Don’t waste this opportunity unless you want to repeat similar lessons in the next Mercury retrograde.
