Jake Bongiovi (2021 – Present)
Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi’s first started dating in June 2021 after connecting on Instagram. “We were friends for a bit,” Brown revealed in a November 2022 Wired interview, and the rest, as they say, was history. Within weeks of meeting, the pair were photographed holding hands while out on a stroll in New York City. After about five months of dating, Brown and Bongiovi seemingly confirmed that they were dating when Brown shared a blurry photo of them sharing a kiss while riding the London Eye. It wasn’t long before the couple went on to make their red carpet debut at the BAFTA Awards in March 2022.
Then, after nearly two years of dating in April 2023, Jon Bon Jovi’s son asked the Stranger Things actress to marry him. Brown, who was 19 at the time, said yes. She shared a picture of herself wearing her engagement ring with her 20-year-old fiancé via Instagram at the time, captioning the photo, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all,” referencing the Taylor Swift lyric.
Fans of the young star had mixed reactions to her engagement. “She’s so young idk whether to congratulate her or say sorry,” one person wrote via X (formerly Twitter) after her engagement announcement, while another commented, “Damn sis did u even give your youth a chance.” Others, however, defended the actress for her decision. “Some people want a family and think of commitment and I respect that,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “I don’t think people should insert their not needed opinions.”
In her October 2023 Glamour cover story, Brown seemed to brush off the criticism over getting engaged at such a young age. “We were modeled wonderful, loving relationships,” she told the magazine. “So, it’s something that we both had that mutual drive for.” However, the actress was candid about the fact that she “never” strictly planned to get married before meeting Bongiovi.
“My dream was to have a baby. I wanted to be the woman that my mom is to me and I wanted to be the woman that my grandmother was to me,” Brown explained. “So that was never my, like, intention, to be a wife.” But Bongiovi shifted her perspective on marriage. “After meeting Jake and seeing, ‘Oh, I don’t have to be this stereotypical wife for him. He doesn’t want me to be that either. He wants me to go and do my thing and live my life, and he will hold my hand in the process of that.’ I was like, ‘Oh, I do want this,’” she shared.
Brown previously opened up about her feelings for the former college football player in an interview with The Times of London, telling the outlet in August 2023 that she “knew” Bongiovi was the one as soon as they met. “As soon as we spoke I knew he was going to be a huge part of my life,” Brown explained. “I ran to my mum and said, ‘I really, really like him!’ After we met we knew we never wanted to leave each other’s side.”
“You can’t pinpoint why,” Brown added. “It’s just the feeling of knowing that that’s the person you want to spend the rest of your time with. I think so much of life is overthinking. The one thing that made clear sense to me was him.”
Brown opened up more about her relationship to Bongiovi in an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. “We’ve been together for four years, so I guess maybe when we moved in together,” Brown began in the podcast episode.
“We had dogs together, and we were taking care of our animals, and we started living this day-to-day life, and I thought, ‘Oh, I really don’t think I could ever see you as anything else. I don’t want to be with anyone else ever again. I don’t want to date, I don’t want to meet anyone, I want you,’” she said.
She continued, “His parents got married really young — they’re high school sweethearts,” Brown said of her in-laws, Bon Jovi and his longtime wife, Dorothea Bongiovi. “My parents got married really young. They met when they were 19. So we had just, like, really young marriages. We had really great role models growing up, so we didn’t see any different. We didn’t get jaded by all the other stuff, you know?”
The two announced that they adopted a daughter on August 21, 2025. “This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “And then there were 3.”
