Has anyone else been following celebs on their ski trips lately? I’ve always associated skiing with looking like a very cold marshmallow, but apparently, one can look pretty damn chic if one tries hard enough! The Jenner fam, in particular, have inspired me to step up my outerwear game, which is why I’m now scouring the web for the best puffer jackets that are both warm and cute.

Best Puffer Coats for Women At a Glance

TBH, I haven’t been super excited about puffer coats in the past, but the Jenners have officially changed my mind. Fashion is all about practicality this winter (just look at the return of UGGs and the popularity of loungewear sets). If there’s anything this past year has taught us, fashion doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort, nor does it require freezing in sub-zero temperatures. After all, you can’t do outdoor dining in that thin leather jacket you love so much! You’ll be shivering by the time your food arrives.

Luckily, like sweatpants, the puffer coat has evolved into something you actually want to be photographed in. If you haven’t been a huge fan of the long puffer coat trend, now’s your time to shine, because this year is all about the short, cropped puffer coats. The puffier, the better! There’s also been a rise in bold colors, textures and prints—hellooo, faux leather puffers! I couldn’t be more obsessed.

From high-end to budget-friendly, there are plenty of puffer coats to browse below. For the Jenner fans, I even found the exact brand that Kendall was rocking in Aspen, so scroll down to peep (and shop) her fave plus some other great pics.

What to Look for in a Puffer Jacket

According to stylist and Stylecaster writer Samantha Sutton, there are a few things to look for when shopping a puffer jacket.

“Think about what is most important to you,” says Sutton. “If it’s not looking like a marshmallow in your coat, try a design that has a cinched waist or a includes a belt, which will help to define your shape. If you’re putting warmth above everything else, take a look at materials.”

When shopping for a puffer, you’re likely to run into the term “down” or “down alternative.” “Down is obviously the most popular, but many down alternatives work just as well,” explains Sutton. “I would also make sure to leave enough room for layers underneath. If a puffer is already feeling snug when you try it on with a T-shirt, you might want to size up.”

Up ahead, find the best puffer jackets to wear this winter.
