When some angry conservative people on Twitter complained about Rachel Zegler’s skin not being “as white as snow.” Zegler fired back in a quickly deleted tweet, “Yes i am snow white no i am not bleaching my skin for the role.”

She also sent lots of love to those who supported her. “Extremely appreciative of the love I feel from those defending me online, but please don’t tag me in the nonsensical discourse about my casting. I really, truly do not want to see it. So I leave you [with] these photos! I hope every child knows they can be a princess no matter what,” Zegler wrote at the time.

September 2022: Rachel Zegler Talks About How the Old Snow White is Dated

In an interview with Extra during Disney’s D23 Expo, Rachel Zegler talked about this iteration of Snow White is different than the animated version. “The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so,” Zegler told Extra. “There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird!”

Many conservative talking heads like blogger Matt Walsh came after Zegler for her comments, “Disney is trying a really interesting marketing strategy where the star of the new Snow White spends a year before the movie’s release publicly talking about how much she despises Snow White.”

August 2024: Rachel Zegler posts Pro-Palestine tweet

In honor of the Snow White trailer being released, she posted on X, “i love you all so much! thank you for the love and for 120m views on our trailer in just 24 hours! what a whirlwind. i am in the thick of rehearsals for romeo + juliet so i’m gonna get outta here. bye for now. ❤️🍎🕊️” She replied in the thread, “and always remember, free Palestine.”

Zegler has always been an advocate for the Free Palestine movement, even before the War on Gaza. This highly contrasts Gal Gadot, who is Israeli, a former IDF soldier, and defends Israel’s actions.

According to Variety, producer Marc Platt had flown in from New York to ask Rachel to tone down her posts. “She didn’t understand the repercussions of her actions as far as what that meant for the film, for Gal, for anyone,” says one insider.

November 2024: Rachel Zegler’s Election comments

As a vocal opponent of Trump, Rachel Zegler wrote about her thoughts about the election. “I find myself speechless in the midst of this,” Zegler wrote, anticipating “another four years of hatred.” “I echo ethel cain’s statement more than anything,” she continued, referring to a since-deleted Tumblr post the musician penned about the “ugly consequences” of the election. Zegler concluded a post with, “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace.”

Republicans and Trump Supporters started to attack Zegler and vowed that they would boycott the movie. Political commentator Megyn Kelly was fired up over the star’s comments. “There’s something wrong with this person. Hello, Disney! You’re gonna have to redo your film again, because this woman is a pig, and you fired Gina Carano for far less than this nonsense.”

November 2024: Rachel Zegler apologized for offensive comments

In a very sanitized Instagram story, Rachel Zegler apologized for her comments. She wrote, “Hi everyone, I would like to sincerely apologize for the election post I shared on my Instagram last week. I let my emotions get the best of me. his week has been emotional for so many of us, but I firmly believe that everyone has the right to their opinion, even when it differs from my own. I am committed to contributing positively toward a better tomorrow.”

In an Instagram post thanking the cast and crew, Rachel Zegler seemingly leaves out Gal Gadot in her carousel. “this movie was a life-changing experience that has held about four years of my career, she wrote in the caption. “the growing up you do from the age of twenty (when i was cast) to twenty-three (the age i am now) cannot be accurately described, yet they exist here on film forever. i became a real adult during the course of this film— learned hard lessons, did hard things, laughed, cried, turned 21, lived across the ocean from my family, made new friends, and completely fell in love with this group of people i got to work with for three magical summers in london. we had the greatest crew in the world on this movie. it cannot be overstated. this photo dump doesn’t even dig into the fun, the magic, and the love that was shared throughout this process.”
