Moving into a new space (or even reinventing your current one) brings the wonderful feeling of being creative all over again. How do you want to paint the walls? What kinds of light fixtures are you looking for? Where should you look for new bedding? But no matter how much thought you put into the things you’re seeing at eye level, what really ties a home all together is what you place beneath your feet: rugs.

Have you ever heard of the saying, “You should always invest in the things that separate you from the ground?” Okay, maybe that quote refers to a good pair of shoes or a mattress, but it totally could apply to rugs as well. Whether you need a runner for your hallway, a kitchen mat to stand on when washing the dishes, or an area rug for a playroom, you’re in luck— Ruggable has them all in multiple shapes, sizes, and textures so you won’t have to compromise on style.

How Ruggable Works

Here’s the lowdown. Ruggable uses a patented two-piece system to make your experience customizable. Every purchase comes with a lightweight rug cover and a non-slip rug pad. The rug covers are machine-washable, interchangeable, and stain and water-resistant. They’re made to order to reduce waste and are available in two textures: Flatwoven (lowest-profile cover, 2mm) and Tufted (thickest and softest cover, 7mm). The rug pads are meant to provide a nonslip grip and floor protection. These come available in 2 thicknesses: Standard Pad (best under rolling furniture and in active, high-traffic areas, 1/8” thick) and Cushioned Pad (best for adding comfort and additional cushioning, 2/5” thick). The rug cover attaches to the rug pad and can be easily removed, folded, and washed in the washer and dryer. Rinse and repeat.

Now, onto the good stuff. We asked editors—first-time and long-time Ruggable users—to style a rug in their home to test whether they’re really as easy as they’re marketed to be. Read on for their honest reviews.
