Scott Peterson Revealed Who He Really Thinks Killed His Wife Laci…

Scott was convicted of murdering his wife and unborn child—but the Innocence Project argues important evidence was overlooked.

In 2002, Laci Peterson disappeared from her home on Christmas Eve while she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant. Two years later, her husband Scott was convicted of her and baby Conner’s murder, but Scott maintains he didn’t kill his wife—that she was, in fact, the victim of a burglary gone wrong.

In January 2024, the LA Innocence Project took on Scott’s case and has been pushing for a retrial with new evidence to exonerate him. “If there is new evidence and it sets him free, then that’s the way it goes, the way the system works, right? We don’t want to see someone wrongly convicted and sent to prison,” juror Mike Belmessieri told CBS13.

“The truth of the matter is that now, in 2024, there is simply too much exculpatory evidence that has come to light, which supports Mr. Peterson’s claim that he is innocent, to be ignored. Justice demands further inquiry into this evidence and should compel this Court to grant this motion and order the requested DNA testing so that additional investigation can be conducted,” the LA Innocence Project wrote in court filings.
