Is Selena Gomez’s “Single Soon” about The Weeknd? No, Selena’s latest single is not about The Weeknd. In an Instagram post made by Hollywood Life, Selena responded to the rumors that it’s about The Weeknd with “Couldn’t be more false.”

Right after the song’s release, Selena took to her Instagram account to thank her fans on the success and what the song is actually about. “Thank you guys for all the love on Single Soon!!! It’s a playful anthem about being comfortable in your own skin and loving your own company… and it’s also really fun to dance to! 💞”

 Selena talks about all the fun activities she’ll do when she finally breaks up with her boyfriend. In the intro, her little sister Gracie Elliott Teefey tells her not to worry about her boyfriends. Selena goes through heartbreak and says that she’ll be a “mess” but all the things she does outweighs the grief. In the music video, she revels in all the fun with her friends by partying and going out to karaoke. And, what’s a breakup without a sleepover with all the girls?

She introduced the single a week before its release. She posted on Instagram, “Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer. SINGLE SOON. August 25th. Presave it now. 😘”

When Did Selena Gomez & The Weeknd Date?

Selena dated The Weeknd from January 2017 to October 2017. According to People, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd first met during the 2015 Victoria Secret Fashion Show where they both performed, though they were with their exes, Justin Bieber and Gigi Hadid at the time.

The two became red carpet official at the Met Gala in May 2017. Selena told InStyle in September 2017 that she was “happy” in her relationship with The Weeknd. “I really am [happy],”she said at the time. “It’s great. I don’t depend on one area of my life to make me happy. It’s really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy.”

And yeah, it was short, because that’s all I had to say on this situation. When asked if the EP made him feel better, The Weeknd responded, “Yeah, of course. I mean, that would have sucked if I didn’t.”

A source told Us Weekly in March 2020 that Selena and The Weeknd are “cordial” and that she even listens to his music. “Selena is a fan of The Weeknd and his music,” the insider said. “She has no negative feelings toward him. They are cordial.”
