Serena Williams’ Husband Had a Telling Response to Her Super Bowl Cameo Shading Ex Drake—See Who Else She’s Dated

Alexis Ohanian (2015-Present)

Williams married entrepreneur and investor Alexis Ohanian in 2017. Ohanian is best known for being one of the co-founders of Reddit, where he served as executive chairman for years. The couple shares two daughters, Alexis Olympia Ohanian and Adira River Ohanian.

Ohanian seemed to approve of his wife’s cameo on Super Bowl LIX, writing on X, “Pretty fantastic halftime show.” He also posted pictures of the Halftime Show on Instagram.

The couple met by chance while they were staying in the same hotel in Rome. “This guy comes and he just plops down at the table next to us and I’m like, ‘Huh! All these tables and he’s sitting here?’” Williams recounted to Vanity Fair in 2017. The couple reflected on their first date in an episode of In the Arena, William’s ESPN+ docuseries in 2024. “It was, like, two hours of interrogation and questions,” Ohanian said. “Do I have kids? Am I married?” Willaims shared that she was impressed by her future husband.  “During dinner, he started talking about Iron Man and Marvel, and that’s the way to my heart,”  she explained.

Ohanian would go on to propose in the same place they met, over a year later. Later, to commemorate their first wedding anniversary, Williams posted a selfie of the two of them, with the caption. “One year down a lifetime to go.”

Ohanian proved to be incredibly supportive of Williams when she was still playing, saying on Instagram in 2020, “Y’all only see me out there in the stands holding it down for her, but she’s the GOAT off the court when it comes to holding it down for her husband. TRUST me,” and wearing “Greatest Female Athlete” and “Unstoppable Queen” shirts in her honor during the 2021 Australian Open. Williams retired from tennis in 2022.

Patrick Mouratoglou (2012-2015)

Williams is rumored to have dated French tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who was her coach from 2012 to 2022 when she retired. The two never confirmed their relationship, and their successful tennis partnership continued long before the rumors of a relationship—with Williams winning 10 majors during the years the two worked together.  

Mouratoglou has spoken about his working relationship with Williams, saying, “We had a special bond with Serena from the start,” and adding, “As a coach, my job is to find chemistry with my players because, to be successful, they need to trust you completely. I always work to build that connection.” 

Grigor Dimitrov (2012)

Though short-lived, Williams is rumored to have dated fellow tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, from Bulgaria. The two frequently practiced together, which sparked speculation. Then, in 2013, Williams made references to a challenging breakup and the desire to be physically distant from the person in question, just as the two stopped the joint practices.

And to make everything even more dramatic, Dimitrov went on to publicly date Maria Sharapova, one of Serena Williams’ biggest rivals on the tennis court.

Drake (2011)

Williams and Drake reportedly dated on and off from 2011 to 2015. “Serena briefly dated Drake around 2011 and even though it didn’t end that well, they have remained friends since,” an insider told Page Six in August 2024. Drake himself confirmed the relationship, naming Williams as the inspiration for his 2016 hit, “Too Good.”

In 2022, however, Drake too a shot at Williams, or at her husband, Alexis Ohanian, in the 2022 song, “Middle of The Ocean,” rapping “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie/He claim we don’t got a problem but/No, boo, it is, like you comin’ for sushi/We might pop up on ’em at will like Suzuki.”

Ohanian subtly responded in a tweet, saying, “It’s cliche, but life changed when I became a husband + papa. It’s made me 100x better as a man and a businessman. The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.”

Amar’e Stoudemire (2010)

Williams reportedly briefly dated basketball player Amar’e Stoudemire in 2010. The two were allegedly introduced by LaLa Anthony, Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife, and are said to have gone on a few dates, but eventually parted ways that same year.

Common (2007-2010)

Rumors of the romance between the two swirled after Williams appeared in the video for his song “I Want You.” The romance reportedly lasted a couple of years, before they parted ways in 2010. Common spoke about their breakup and subsequent relationship in The Meredith Vieira Show a few years after, saying about Williams, “Not every ex-girlfriend and I are still friends, but with some, I am,” and adding, “We got a great understanding, and I care about her as a person. It’s not like every other person you talk to every other day, but you know, you still have that respect. You have love for them and want to see them do well.”

Jackie Long (2007-2008)

Williams dated actor Jackie Long between 2007 and 2008. The relationship reportedly ended badly, with Williams suggesting in a blog post on her website that she broke up with him after he told her he needed space. Long hasn’t commented on why they broke up, but he has confirmed the two dated in the past.

Brett Ratner (2004-2005)

Disgraced Hollywood producer Brett Ratner dated Serena for a bit during the years 2004 and 2005. Their romance is even documented in the 2005 reality TV series, Venus and Serena: For Real, which followed the Williams sisters. A clip from that even went viral when allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Ratner were first revealed. In the short clip, Ratner is seen touching Williams, while saying, “Give me some love. Show me that you care” while the two are watching Venus play.

 “You’re being very disturbing,” Williams tells him, and then later informs him she wants to see other people, saying, “We don’t have a relationship. It’s too bad it didn’t work out between us.” Ratner responds, “Is this the breakup episode?”
