Well, we’ve done it. We’ve scoured the fashion weeks and all their street styles, we’ve scoped out the scene downtown, and we’re here to give you our official 2025 sneaker trend report.

At first, a sneaker gives off the impression that it’s unfussy and low maintenance, that a “jeans and sneakers” outfit is a chill thing you didn’t really think too hard about. And while that’s all often very true, it’s misleading. The truth is, putting some thought into choosing a basic like a sneaker is the reason it gets to be this low maintenance, effortless thing while still casually cool.

Fashion week street style is a great place to study up and coming trends because that’s where fashion’s earliest trend adopters and most ambitious experimenters are testing out their sartorial ideas. This past fall and summer, there have been very clear threads of what people are wearing, almost to the point that I’m concerned. Half kidding, but seriously I do get a raised eyebrow when everyone’s so clearly and precisely on the exact same page. But maybe the ideas were just in the water or something.

Something I saw a ton of that I found really exciting was silver chrome sneakers. Not sure how long that shine will wear, but that may be a predictor for how long the trend lasts. In similar vein, there were quite a few people wearing leopard print sneakers, specifically the Adidas ones with the large hanging tongue. But there were also some more familiar ones too: a low profile runner and suede sneakers are here to stay. Velcro sneakers have already hit stores, from designers like Wales Bonner and Camper.
