Three years ago, I moved into the tiniest studio apartment (I’m talking 150 square feet tiny), and somehow, I’ve managed to make it work. Thankfully, I don’t have to store my shoes in my oven like Carrie Bradshaw, but considering the amount of space I have—or lack thereof—there have definitely been times that I’ve thought about it.
After several rounds of trial and error with buying and rearranging furniture, I’ve finally learned how to maximize every inch of space I have. The secret is to buy narrow products that mostly take up vertical space. In my apartment, you’ll see a high-off-the-ground bed frame, lots of floating shelves, and a pretty tall kitchen baker’s rack—all of which I’ve included in the list below, of course.
Since I’m a big homebody, I take pride in having a somewhat cute, aesthetic apartment. That said, one of my biggest priorities when buying new home improvement products was that they weren’t ugly. The wanna-be interior designer in me would have loved to order everything straight from Anthropologie, however, my bank account begged me not to, so I resorted to the somewhat cheaper (but still nice-looking) products on Amazon. I also made sure everything was single-person approved, since I didn’t want to hire a Task Rabbit to assemble my furniture. So, if you’re on the hunt for products that are functional, stylish, easy to put together, and won’t break the bank, this list is for you.
