Squid Game Season 3 Introduces All-New Games— A Guide to Each Round in the Deadly Competition

Pre-Game: Rock, Paper, Scissors minus one & Russian Roulette (Season 2)

In order to re-enter the game, Gi-hun recruits his employees, Mr. Kim and Choi Woo-seok, to find the Salesman. When they eventually find him, they duel him in a game of rock, paper, scissors. The game goes as usual, but with an added layer of minus one where they make another move of rock paper scissors and move their hand forward to see who wins.

Another game that they play is the deadly game of Russian Roulette. One of the six barrels is filled with a bullet and each person takes a round to shoot themselves. It’s a gamble with Mr. Kim and Choi Woo-seok, and The Salesman has an epic confrontation with Gi-hun.

Pre-game: Ddakji (Season 1)

Ddakji is the first game that’s introduced in Squid Game. The Salesman lures in susceptible people who are in debt and plays the classic school game with them. The non-throwing member puts their tile on the ground. throwing player tries to throw their tile so that it makes the other player’s tile flip over. They should try to throw from downward angle. If they are successful, they get a point.

Red Light, Green Light (Seasons 1 & 2)

All 456 players gather in a schoolyard where they are surrounded by guards and a large girl robot named Young-hee. The game is simple where they can move when the robot says “green light” and they have to stay still when she says “red light.” In Korean, the players have to move before she ends the phrase, “Mugunghwa Kkoci Pieot Seumnida (무궁화 꽃 이 피었 습니다).” If they’re noticed by the robot if they move, the players get shot on the spot. The players who cross the finish line complete the challenge, while those who don’t pass it on time also gets shot.

Six-Legged Pentathlon (Season 2)

Instead of the Dalgona cookie game, the players go through the tedious tasks of mini-games.

• Ddakji – The same concept as the first game that the salesman lures the players in.
• Flying Stone – Players have to knock over a bigger stone with their stone by throwing it at great lengths.
• Gong-gi – This game is pretty similar to Jacks where the player has five stones. They throw one stone in the air and throw the rest on the ground. They have to catch each stone while the stone is in the air, and with each round, a stone is added for them to catch on the ground.
• Spinning top – A player puts a top in play by pulling the rip cord.
• Jegi, short for Jegichagi – A game that’s similar to hackeysack. They have to keep the Jegi up without it touching the floor.

Dalgona (Season 1)

Players are given a shape of honeycomb, or Dalgona, a sweet treat popular in South Korea that’s made with sugar and baking soda. They have to successfully etch the shape out of the circle with a needle. If not, they are eliminated.

Mingle (Season 2)

Mingle is a similar game to Musical Chairs. However, players need to go to a certain room around the perimeter of a hall with the right amount of people in it. If they don’t go into the room or if it has the wrong number of people they will be eliminated.

Lights Out (Seasons 1 & 2)

In between games two and three, players are given the chance to kill other players with their own weapons in a special game called “Lights Out.” Some players use forks given during mealtime that weren’t confiscated.

Tug of War (Season 1)

Teams of 10 are grouped together and play a deadly game of Tug of War where they have to pull a large piece of rope from the other team. The losing team would be shredded through a guillotine.

Marbles (Season 1)

The goal of this game was to get all the marbles from the other player. “Using your set of ten marbles, play the game of your choice with your partner. The player who manages to take all ten marbles from their partner wins.“

Stepping Stone Bridge (Season 1)

Players enter an arena with two parallel bridges by jumping across tempered glass panels. They must decide which glass is durable to cross. If it’s not the right tile, then they fall through from a great height.

Squid Game (Season 1)

The infamous titled game that is deemed as one of the most violent childhood games by the There are two teams: the defender and the attacker. The attacker enters from the other side of the court and , run past the defense, and touch the area inside the squid’s head with their foot to secure the win. The defender’s team must block the attacker’s advance and force them outside of the court’s bounds.

Hide & Seek (Season 3)

It’s the classic game where one person is it and the other person has to go hide. Instead, the person who is It wants you dead and has a knife. The players are split into red and blue teams. The blue teams have to find their way out of the maze with several keys to unlock the door. The red team is equipped with a knife and tries to kill the players trying to escape.

Players are allowed to switch vests before they enter the maze, but they cannot switch once the enter.

Jump Rope (Season 3)

We meet Young-hee again alongside a new character, Cheol-su. Players will have to skip rope while also making their way across the bridge while jumping over the rope as it swings. Players have 20 minutes to cross the bridge or else they would be eliminated.

Sky Squid Game (Season 3)

It’s exactly like Squid Game, but in an elevated space and one where you can fall to your death. The games rules are as follows: “Starting on the square pillar you are all currently standing on, if you as a group manage to push on or more players off while they are still alive, the round will end and all remaining players will move on to the triangle pillar. Likewise, if you are able to eliminate one or more players on the triangle pillar in the second round, then you will move on to the circle pillar. Finally, if you eliminate one or more players on the circle pillar in the third round then the remaining players on that pillar will be the game’s final winners. Please keep the following in mind. If you fail to eliminate at least one player within a round’s given time limit, then all players on the pillar will be eliminated.”
