Hugh Jackman had admired Sutton Foster’s long Broadway career from afar but they hit it off when they were both cast in The Music Man in 2021. The two instantly had chemistry with each other and became close co-stars. He has an impeccable reputation of being the hardest working man, incredibly kind, and generous—and all of that is true. He disarms everyone, and he doesn’t make anything about him. Rumors started to swirl of an affair between the two. InTouch Weekly first reported that Hugh and Sutton were in a relationship. “Their romance is an open secret on Broadway,” said one source, adding that the Deadpool vs. Wolverine star “has been besotted with Sutton from the moment he met her. He followed her around like a puppy!” Hugh had recently filed for divorce from his longterm wife Debora-Lee Furness in September 2023. Us Weekly confirmed that Sutton Foster formed a connection with the actor before she split from Ted Griffin.
British gossip blogger Tasha Lustig posted a TikTok video claiming Jackman “blindsided” his wife by “running off with the mistress,” and adding that Jackman and Foster were planning to “soft launch” their relationship to the public.
Hugh’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, reportedly liked the post from her private account. British media personality Amanda de Cadenet commented on the post, “You are on point with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment fyi!”
“Deborra-lee was blindsided when she found out about the affair through the run of the show,” a source told Us about Jackman’s wife. “It was apparently Broadway’s worst-kept secret, and Deborra-lee was the last to know. … He didn’t own up to it.”
As for the future of their now-secret relationship, the two try to keep it very low-key. “They don’t live together because of their kids,” a source told Us Weekly. “But Sutton has told people on Broadway about the relationship. Everyone [there] has known about this for a long time.”
“Hugh’s whole image is that he’s the nicest guy in Hollywood,” the source explained. “So he doesn’t know what to do with this.”
