Sweaters may feel like one of those garments that’s relegated to fall and winter, but don’t limit yourself. A lot of clothes you don’t think of as sweaters use knit fabrics, so the carry over into actual sweaters is less complicated than you think. We collected some sweater trends 2025 based on the runway collections from this past Spring and Summer 2025 fashion shows.

There are a few designers who I think really nailed it. Coach being a huge one. I was so impressed by the knit I <3 NY tee and the distressed sweater. It feels like they are really on the pulse for what people are craving these days. A sense of play and DIY. I also loved to see Brandon Maxwell’s show, I loved the sheer knit henleys. I thought Loewe’s was also beautiful, but I’m sort of biased toward anything Jonathan Anderson does these days.

One of the trends I was most excited to see was sweatshirts. But not just athleisure-wear. Some of these sweatshirts felt like traditional fashion garments that you’d take good care of. And they all looked very different and lent unique points of view on what a sweatshirt can do for a wardrobe or an outfit.

Again, I loved the short sleeves. Another thing I found notable was the cardigans, specifically the crop of them and the lack of oversized. It’s typical that two opposing trends can be popular at once. For example, turtlenecks and low cut necklines being popular at the same time happens regularly. But this season, we saw much less of the oversized, and much more of the close to the body.
