Your Thanksgiving 2024 Horoscope Might Bring Trouble

It’s that time of year for turkey trots, family football, and pumpkin pie. While your family traditions may stay the same, the general “vibe” of Thanksgiving each year really depends on what’s going on in the sky. And this Thanksgiving? Everyone will be feeling something, and your Thanksgiving horoscope holds the key to how the skies will affect you. 

Whether you’re playing backyard games with family or participating in a “Friendsgiving” potluck, Thanksgiving typically involves spending time with other people. When the astrological skies are feeling nice, the forecast might involve sweet words, hugs, and sentimental time together. When the skies are more rocky, like this year, it can provide an intense backdrop which can lead to the environment becoming tense, uncomfortable, or even a little spicy.   

For starters, two days before Thanksgiving hits, Mercury turns retrograde in Sagittarius. This is uncomfortable for two reasons—the first being that nothing goes smoothly during Mercury retrograde, so we should expect very “Mercury retrograde” delays. For example, if you’re planning to travel, prepare for bumps in the road or possibly forgetting the dish that you were supposed to bring. If you’re hoping to host, it may be that kitchen tools break or cooking times might slip your mind. 

The second reason? Well, Mercury retrograde is in Sagittarius, the zodiac sign of beliefs and spirituality. Topics that fall under this sign include religion, faith, theories, and…politics. (See where I’m going here?) With a Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, many of us are challenging our belief systems and are either more likely to move away from old systems or be encouraged to reinforce them with other people. Take a big election, put a bunch of high-spirited (perhaps, literally) people in a room together, and the likelihood of fierce and opinionated conversations is high. So, per the retrograde, the best thing to do is double-check your cooking times and stay on agreeable topics at the dinner table.

If Mercury retrograde wasn’t shaky enough, on Thanksgiving Day itself, we have Venus making a square to Chiron, which can make everyone feel a little more sensitive to comments. We also have a deep, harsh Scorpio moon in the sky. And finally, there’s potential for anger (or just a lot of overeating) with the sun making a trine to Mars.
