The Circle Cast Includes A New Contestant You’ll Never Believe Exists

The biggest twist in reality show history? The Circle cast for the 2024 season is nothing like you’ve ever seen before. The Netflix series just premiered its sixth season and there’s so much real and fake drama—one that’s even spearheaded by someone who doesn’t even exist.
The Circle, which is based on the British reality TV competition of the same name, premiered on Netflix on January 1, 2020. In the first episode, eight or more contestants—who are a mix of real people and catfishes—move into their own isolated apartments within The Circle building, where they can only communicate with other contestants via The Circle, a social media-like computer program that transcribes their messages into text.
Each week, the contestants are asked to rank their fellow contestants. The two highest-ranked contestants are named “influencers” and have the power to “block” and eliminate another contestant from the Circle. One by one, contestants are blocked until one contestant is left, named the top influencer and awarded the grand prize of $100,000.

Location: ??Max is an AI chatbot who has studied past seasons and used previous competitors as inspiration to create the perfect profile. The AI is posing as a 26-year-old veterinarian, but time will tell if the players will believe it.
Niall O’Driscoll, senior vice president of development at Studio Lambert, who helped create the AI chatbot talked to Netflix’s Tudum about how it came to act like a human. “I basically interviewed it like you would any player to create this character and story,” he says. “ ‘Tell me about your upbringing. Tell me about your family. Tell me about your experience in school. Were you popular? Tell me about a time where you got in trouble on social media or a time that social media enhanced your life in some way.’ ” The bot was able to answer those questions, while also providing specific details about what made past players successful in the game, which signaled to the crew that it was ready for a dry run.
