During the third quarter, Kelce pushed Raiders defensive back Amik Robertson and defensive tackle Jerry Tillery off his teammate Rashee Rice, who was grounded at the time. In reaction to the testosterone-fuelled moment, Swifties took to social media to express their enthusiasm. “i don’t wanna hear “travis kelce can you fight” anymore 😭😭” tweeted one. “oh…did he just…throw a full grown man…..” wrote another. “That did something to me that I can’t say online,” another said.

The moment came as Travis celebrated a career milestone, becoming the fastest tight end to reach 11,000 yards per the NFL. His 27-yard catch in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ 31-17 win over the Raiders put him past the milestone mark, achieving it in his 154th game. Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez was the previous standard bearer at 191 games. He’s also edged closer to Antonio Gates (11,841 yards), who he can realistically surpass in 2024.

Born on October 5, 1989, in Westlake, Ohio, Kelce’s journey from a college standout at the University of Cincinnati. He initially joined as a quarterback but switched to the tight end position during his college career. This transition allowed him to utilize his size and athleticism to become a reliable receiving target. He had a breakout season in 2012, his senior year, where he recorded 45 receptions for 722 yards and 8 touchdowns, and this performance helped boost his draft stock for the NFL.

Some eagle-eyed fans might have uncovered a mutual connection that could explain how Swift and Kelce ended up in each other’s lives. In a now-viral post on X, formerly known as Twitter, a Swiftie pointed out the surprising link—and it involves one of Swift’s dancers, Kameron Saunders.

Saunders, who has been performing for the Midnights star on her recent Eras Tour, is the brother of Kelce’s former Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Khalen Saunders. “WHY NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW TAYLOR’S DANCER KAM SAUNDERS IS BROTHER TO KHALEN SAUNDERS THAT PLAYS WITH TRAVIS KELCE,” wrote the fan. Later, the social media user clarified, “Ok he doesn’t play there anymore but Travis and Khalen literally won this year superbowl together.”

For some more context: The Chiefs won the Super Bowl in February 2023, at which point, it’s true that Kelce and Khalen Saunders were teammates. Khalen now plays for the New Orleans Saints. Meanwhile one month after Khalen’s Super Bowl win with the Chiefs, his brother Kameron Saunders announced on Instagram that he was going on tour with none other than Swift.

“I have been holding onto this since December when I got the call,” Kameron wrote in a caption of a post shared on March 18, 2023. “We opened last night in Arizona and I am just overwhelmed by all the love messages and DMs … This is super special because just a month ago we were in this SAME stadium watching my brother win his second Super Bowl ring.”

Could it be a coincidence? Of course. But plenty of fans are now convinced that the Saunders brothers played a part in Swift and Kelce’s romance.
