Travis Kelce’s response to Patrick Mahomes’ comment about Taylor Swift
In an episode of his podcast New Heights that he hosts with his brother Jason, who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, he mentioned what Patrick said after the game. “Pat telling everybody that I never run the route called and getting me the touchdown for all the Swifites watching — thanks Pat,” he said sarcastically.
Travis also added his game plan moving forward. “I want to respect both of our lives,” Kelce said. “She’s not in the media as much as I am doing this show every single week and having fun during the NFL season on other guys’ shows, like the McAfee show and any other show I go on from here on out. Like you said on that Thursday night game, I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend.”
In a post-game interview, Patrick talked about how he felt when he heard that a certain someone was in the stadium. “I heard she was in the house,” the quarterback said when he was asked a question about the Midnights singer and his teammate.
“I felt a little bit of pressure, and so I knew I had to get it to Trav,” referring to the touchdown that Taylor celebrated in a suite with Travis’ mother.
“He does his own thing and just makes up a route, and I throw it to him,” Mahomes said. “I think he wanted to get in the end zone just as much as all the Swifties wanted him to.”
He then revealed if he’s been in contact with Taylor. “She’s a pop star. She’s a tremendous singer, tremendous at everything she does. I haven’t gotten to meet her, but I guess if she ends up being with Travis, then I’ll probably meet her at some point. Seems like a good person, so hopefully I get to meet her one day,” he said.
“He told me at the last minute,” Patrick said about if he knew that she would come. “There’s some things with Trav where he kind of just says it, and you don’t know if it’s true or not. He says it so calmly.”
“He was just like, “Oh, yeah, I think she’s coming to the game … this weekend,’ and just moved about his business,” he recalled.
