How did Travis Kelce respond to Taylor Swift dating rumors? He hasn’t said anything explicit to confirm or deny, but on Sunday, September 17, 2023, NFL announcers were having a field day with the jokes and it sounds like he’s taking it all in stride.

When Kelce scored a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars, commentator Ian Eagle quipped, “Kelce finds a blank space for the score,” making reference to Swift’s song “Blank Space” from her 1989 album, adding later that the champion tight end could “shake it off” after suffering a knee injury in practice a few weeks prior, another reference to a T-Swift song, “Shake It Off”.

NFL Network’s Rich Eisen chimed in with the banter on Twitter with a rollcall of Swift hits while covering Kelce’s return to the field, including “Delicate,” “Anti-Hero” and “August.” Sharing a clip of the broadcast via Instagram, Eisen wrote in the caption, “Look what you made me do, @killatrav.” Kelce responded: “Well played Rich… Well played 👏🏻😂”

It doesn’t sound like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are dating—at least, according to insider sources—but that’s not to say he wouldn’t like to. And crazier things have happened. A source told ET that, “Travis has been into Taylor for a while and definitely has a crush on her. He is a simple guy that is very funny, charismatic, chill, and loves playing football.” This comes after The Messenger reported that “Taylor and Travis have been quietly hanging out,” a source said. “She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago,” without adding any other context.

Some of the NFL community weighed in on the rumors: “The lady that sells out every stadium in the world ten times. The lady who plays for three and a half hours and [New England Patriots coach] Bill Belichick says, ‘She’s pretty tough, man.’ Said you know what? The man of my dreams, that I’m gonna marry—this isn’t just date, like others in the past—is an NFL guy,” podcast host and former NFL punter Pat McAfee said on his show.

“I’m so pumped for Trav. Very happy for the new couple, if it’s real. Trav and Taylor are going to take over the world. I do fear all of her songs, just from listening to them, but her songs are like a diary. Trav, what we’re saying to you is treat her right.” Another football fan tweeted: “I will only believe updates about Travis Kelce’s knee if they are reported by Taylor Swift, preferably through song.”

In April 2023, Kelce was also rumored to be linked with Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion after snapshots of the two at the Country Music Awards surfaced. It’s alleged that Kelce even went as far as to fly the Houston-based rapper to Austin, the location of the award show, aboard his private jet. Once again, the rumors were never confirmed, and it seems as though the two are likely just good pals, as evidenced by their mutual following of each other on IG.  

A few months before the CMT news, in January 2023, Kelce confirmed his single status to the hosts of The Pivot Podcast. “I’m in the free market right now,” he said. “I’m out there just enjoying life. Focused on my profession.”      

Kelce’s longest public relationship to date was with fashion influencer and journalist Kayla Nicole from 2017 to 2022.
