Taking it online. Taylor Swift’s publicist Tree Paine responded to DeuxMoi rumors about the Midnights singer marrying her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. The anonymous Instagram gossip account posted a story about believing that Taylor married Joe in secret.
Tree Paine has worked with Taylor Swift since 2014 and is one of the best-known publicists in the industry. The publicist rarely comments on situations like this. One of the only known instances where she spoke out was the surrounding drama around Taylor’s conversation with Kanye West and his then-wife Kim Kardashian about the “Famous” lyrics.
DeuxMoi posted an anonymous tip that called out people who believed that the “Cruel Summer” artist and the British actor were briefly married. “She DID have a ceremony in 2020 or 2021 in the UK and it was described to me as a ‘marriage’ by more than one person,” the Instagram account wrote in their stories. “It was NEVER made legal.”
News broke of Joe and Taylor’s relationship in May 2017. In an interview with Esquire in 2018, Alwyn revealed if he sought advice about dating a celebrity. “I didn’t seek out advice on that,” he said. “Because I know what I feel about it. I think there’s a very clear line as to what somebody should share, or feel like they have to share, and what they don’t want rdto and shouldn’t have to.” Alwyn, who co-wrote a few songs on Swift’s 2020 album Folklore, is believed to have inspired several of Swift’s tracks, including “Gorgeous,” “Call It What You Want” and “Cardigan.“
After more than six years together, Entertainment Tonight reported in April 2023 that Swift and Alwyn had broken up. “It was not dramatic,” a source told the site at the time. “The relationship had just run its course.” The insider explained that the breakup is why Alwyn had not attended any of Swift’s Eras Tour at the time. “It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows,” the source said. Currently Taylor Swift is in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

What did Tree Paine say in response to DeuxMoi’s rumors? Tree Paine took to X (formerly Twitter) to address Deux Moi’s comments. She posted, “Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”
How did DeuxMoi react to Tree Paine’s response? After Tree Paine posted the response, DeuxMoi took to Instagram to write, “Well I make zero dollars from lying.. can publicists say the same,” Deuxmoi shared late Thursday evening on top of a screenshot of Paine’s tweet. “Also, to relate something that is in reference to something that happened years ago to ‘pain & trauma’ after what just happened seems like a poor choice of words.”
“Either way, I apologize to Taylor,” she concluded the statement.
It’s unclear on “what just happened” refers to in the post. However, many believe that it refers to the death of a Brazilian fan, 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado, who died shortly before Taylor’s Eras Tour concert at Estadio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro.
