Swimming is one of the top-watched sporting events at the Olympics. With more than a dozen medals already under Team USA’s belt, we looked up all the competitors’ heights so you don’t have to.

The range for the average Olympic swimmer varies but the average height would scale around 6’2” (188 cm) for men, and 5’9 (175 cm) for women. Of course, it does come at an advantage to be a little taller so that the wingspan can cover the most area and can allow one to swim a bit faster.

Katie Ledecky is one of the most well-known and decorated swimmers of her generation, and she’s one of the tallest on the USA Women’s team standing at 6’0. Meanwhile, Caeleb Dresser of the Men’s team stands three inches taller than her at 6’3.
