After surprising the world with her pregnancy on the Oscars red carpet in March 2024, many fans of the actress want to know: who is Vanessa Hudgens’ husband? The High School Musical alum has been married since December 2023—so it’s time we get to know this growing family!

Hudgens tied the knot with her husband, Cole Tucker, in Tulum, Mexico. Her hubby proposed to her with an emerald-cut ring the year before, with Hudgens telling People that she wasn’t expecting her proposal to happen the way it did. “I was extremely surprised,” she told the magazine in March 2023. “We had definitely talked about it, but I did not expect it to happen the way that it happened and the moment that it happened. It definitely caught me off guard and I was bawling my eyes out.”

The couple were first linked back in November 2020, when they were spotted out on a dinner date in Los Angeles at the Canyon Country Store. At the time, the pair kept a low profile about their relationship—but it wasn’t long before they went public with their romance. On Valentine’s Day 2021, Hudgens and Tucker decided to make their relationship Instagram official. They went on to make their red carpet debut in November 2021 at the Tick, Tick … Boom! premiere.

During an April 2023 interview with Today, Hudgens admitted that she knew Tucker was “the one” right away. “I knew. After our first weekend together, I called my sister and was like, ‘I think I just found my future husband,’” she shared.

Three months after their wedding took place, Hudgens and Tucker revealed another major relationship milestone: they are expecting their first child together. The Disney Channel alum shared the surprising news by debuting her baby bump on the Oscars red carpet in March 2024, where she wore a form-fitting black gown.

The actress had previously opened up about her desire to be mother one day, telling Nylon in September 2022, “I always thought I would be married at 25, because that’s when my mom got married, and then when that didn’t happen, I was like, ‘Oh, OK, So we’re just going to shift everything back a bit.'” She continued, “I always thought that around 36, 37 is when I would want to have kids, and that still plays. I don’t feel panicked about it.” Looks like her new timeline was right on schedule!

So, who is Vanessa Hudgens’ husband, Cole Tucker? Unlike her previous flames, Tucker isn’t another Hollywood star. Hudgens’ hubby is a professional baseball player, who currently plays as a shortstop for the Seattle Mariners. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, who drafted him in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the team in 2019, and has also played for the Colorado Rockies.

“I feel like I experienced so many emotions with the Pirates,” Tucker told AZ Central in June 2022. “I was a 17-year-old high school senior and I got drafted by them, and I got to the big leagues with them, and I had success with them. So many great people there, I’m really humbled for all of it, appreciative of all of it.”

Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker met the way that plenty of people do these days—online. But it wasn’t on a dating app. The couple had their first encounter over Zoom, for a meditation group during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I get on the Zoom, and I’m like, ‘Who is that?'” she said during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in May 2021. After meeting over Zoom, Hudgens revealed that she was the one to reach out to the baseball player. “I fully just slid into his DMs and was like, ‘Hey, it was nice to meet you.’ So I think there is no shame in making the first move,” she shared with Barrymore.
