If you follow fashion influencers on Instagram, you are probably already familiar with this bridal trend. The basque and drop waist silhouette has been a recent favorite amongst influencer newlyweds. Alex Cooper and Natalie Joy both opted for a basque waist dress for their wedding ceremonies this past year.

Bridal stylist Lesley Brickman was excited to see the trend continue in bridal designer’s 2025 collections. “I loved seeing so many drop and basque waistlines on the runways and in presentations! I’ve long been a fan of these two waistlines—they truly look so luxe and elegant!—and I’m thrilled that more designers see their beauty,” Brickman says.

Peplum Lace

Peplum is a polarizing trend but it’s hard to dislike the soft beauty of peplum lace on a wedding dress. Whether it’s a subtle addition as seen on the Yuliia Lobachóva dress pictured above, or a full-on statement as seen on the Pnina Tornai mini dress, peplum lace adds texture, dimension, and a wow factor to a dress. Peplum lace is a great choice for a bride looking to accentuate her waist and add drama to the dress’s silhouette.

A Neck Scarf

The neck scarf trend is elegant, timeless, and won’t break the bank. Adding a chic neck scarf is such a classic look, that it’s hard to consider it a trend at all—but it’s certainly having a moment right now. This accessory is so easy to add that it only has to be worn for a moment to have a big impact. If you’re opting for a strapless dress, consider adding one for cocktail hour to create a playful vibe post ceremony.

Everything Blue

The bridal tradition of wearing “something blue” on the wedding day is common practice and allows brides to add a small pop of color. In 2025, however, brides can take it up a notch with an all-blue wedding dress. Designers like Sareh Nouri and Ines di Santo had standout blue gowns as a focal point in the 2025 bridal collections. This is the perfect trend for a non-traditional bride looking to keep the drama of a traditional gown but still make a statement. If you love the idea of a blue dress but don’t want to give up the white moment, consider wearing a blue dress to the rehearsal dinner or after party.

A Retro Shoulder Pouf

If you’re on #weddingtok, your TikTok FYP might also be inundated with brides transforming their mom’s wedding dresses from the ’80s into a more modern look. Whether they tailor the dress to be short, repurpose the lace, or just take it in, the original garments have a common theme: they all have fabulous puff sleeves. The vintage trend is making a resurgence with a pouf height for all tastes. Brands like Watters have created a sleeker version of the trend while brands like Odylyne are leaning into the drama of the ’80s.

Mantilla Veils

A veil can complete a bridal look and as wedding dress trends change, so do veil trends. While the tulle veil is still having a moment, the more traditional Mantilla veil is also making a resurgence. This veil style has origins in the 17th and 18th centuries and is rooted in Spanish, Latin, and Italian culture. The veil is typically defined by the scalloped lace hemline that frames the face. They are most commonly worn in a cathedral length but modern iterations of the style also include shorter lengths.

The (Longer) Mini

The “Little White Dress” has been the star of wedding receptions for a few years now, and it’s not going anywhere.

According to bridal stylist Lindsey Brickman, “For my 2024 and beyond brides, we’re seeing stunning midi and tea-length dresses that are perfect for the non-ceremony events such as the reception or welcome party.”

Designers like Jaclyn Whyte are ahead of the trend with floor-length gowns that transform into a second knee-length look. Two-in-one bridal looks are increasingly popular as they provide multiple options without needing to buy multiple dresses.
