Your horoscope for the week of May 4 to 10 says you’re overcoming trials and strengthening your relationships. Don’t be afraid of conflict, as the only way to build trust and intimacy is by facing the issue head-on. Even if you’re trying to avoid a potentially awkward moment, remember that avoidance only creates distance.

The week begins with a stubborn, but motivating first quarter moon in prideful Leo on May 4. You may feel torn between your desire to be seen and your instinct to remain stable and guarded. However, as the moon forms a trine with romantic Venus and chatty Mercury, you’ll find the courage needed to overcome your fears and shine in the spotlight. May 4 is also when Pluto—planet of creation and destruction—will station retrograde at 3 degrees of Aquarius. Unless you have placements between 0 and 7 degrees of a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius), you might not feel this retrograde at all. However, if you do, this retrograde could spark a major shift in the power dynamics of your life. Those who have enjoyed superiority may suddenly be dealing with feelings of inferiority—and vice versa.

May 5 could be an incredibly healing day if you let it be. The moon will continue to move through creative and expressive Leo before forming a trine with Chiron—the wounded healer—in Aries. This will bring out your bolder side, even if you’re normally a bit of a shy wallflower. If you’re willing to overcome your stage fright, you’ll be rewarded for it. In fact, an unexpected opportunity to put yourself out there and show your teeth could arrive as the moon also squares off with unpredictable Uranus. Either way, big conversations are taking place as Mercury in Aries forms a positive sextile with Jupiter in Gemini. Embrace your competitive side, as going the distance and pushing for greatness could lead to genius developments.

You have the power to provide meaningful support to your relationships and finances by May 6. This is when Venus in Aries will form a sextile with Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, which could bring up past grievances, resentments, and even unseen love stories that need addressing. The truth of the matter is rising to the surface, where you can choose to heal by either moving on or getting closer. The moon will also be moving through helpful and proactive Virgo as it forms a trine with the Taurus sun, allowing you to build a practical foundation for good things to grow from.

However, by May 7, you may run into something you’re in the process of letting go of. The Virgo moon will form a trine with innovative Uranus, a conjunction with the South Node of Karma, and an opposition with stoic Saturn. This could allow you to shed your skin in a completely new way, giving you the space to clear away what needs clearing while you answer to the hard realities of life that can’t be avoided. In order for you to create a better future, you need to be willing to part ways with a heavy past.

May 8 could actually be a sensual and highly passionate day. After all, the moon will be moving through relationship-oriented Libra as it forms a trine with transformative Pluto, an opposition with dreamy Neptune and flirty Venus, as well as a sextile with sexy Mars. If you were to go on a date this week, I would encourage you to book it for Thursday, when the conditions will be downright perfect for some romantic action. However, that opposition with Venus and Neptune means that at least one of you will be wearing “rose-colored glasses,” so don’t get carried away just because you felt butterflies in your stomach. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re your soulmate.

After Mercury enters Taurus, it will encourage you to stay grounded, centered, and committed to keeping your promises.

The romantic excitement will reach its peak by May 10. The Libra moon will form a trine with expansive Jupiter in the morning, building on those feelings of connection and mutual understanding. Then, messenger Mercury slides into fixed earth sign Taurus at 8:15 a.m. ET, which tempers the fast-paced intensity you experienced while it was in Aries. After Mercury enters Taurus, it will encourage you to stay grounded, centered, and committed to keeping your promises. However, you might also feel like things are moving at a slower, more gradual pace. Either way, Taurus is ruled by Venus, which happens to be at its “detriment” in Aries, which means you’re still working out the kinks in your relationships. Right now, the best way to communicate is by concentrating on what’s real and tangible, as Taurus is connected to the five human senses—sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. If you can’t feel it, you might not be able to believe it.

The moon will enter Scorpio later in the evening, where the moon is considered to be in its “fall.” Not only will this challenge the way you process your emotions, but it will bring up ill intentions and hidden meaning as the moon opposes intellectual Mercury, squares off with dark-sided Pluto, and forms a conjunction with the Black Moon Lilith. This could make you feel alienated or misunderstood, prompting you to tap into your most controversial source of power. Don’t be surprised if you ruffle a few feathers as this week comes to a close.
