Jenny Slate’s Comments About Justin Baldoni Resurface as Blake Lively Lawsuit Faces New Development

Slate, Baldoni, and Lively film It Ends With Us (2023-2024)

Filming for the movie took place from mid-2023 to early 2024. It Ends With Us stars Blake Lively, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Isabela Ferrer, and Justin Baldoni, who also directed the movie. The story follows Lily Bloom (Lively) as she moves to Boston, meets handsome neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni), and reconnects with her old boyfriend and first love, Atlas Corrigan (Sklenar). It is based on Colleen Hoover’s popular book which became famous on BookTok.

In the movie, slate portrays Allysa, the sister of Baldoni’s character, Ryle Kincaid.

Slate avoids Baldoni at the It Ends With Us premiere (August 7, 2024)

During the movie’s premiere in August, Slate made headlines for staying out of Baldoni’s completely and also for the fact that her answer to a question about working with Baldoni, as both a scene partner and director, seemed to avoid making any reference to Baldoni at all.

Slate releases statement supporting Lively (Dec 23, 2024)

After Blake Lively’s sexual harassment complaint, Slate released a statement in support of Lively. The statement read, “As Blake Lively’s cast mate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation. Blake is a leader, loyal friend and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her.” The actress also added. “What has been revealed about the attack on Blake is terribly dark, disturbing and wholly threatening. I commend my friend, I admire her bravery, and I stand by her side.”

Other cast members like Brandon Sklenar, and even book writer Colleen Hoover also speak publicly in support of Lively.

Blake Lively files amended complaint (February 19, 2024)

Lively files an amended complaint alleging two other women on set are prepared to testify as to their own uncomfortable experiences with Justin Baldoni and with his Wayfarer Studios partner Jamey Heath. The complaint doesn’t name the actresses, but The Hollywood Reporter cites sources indicating the women are Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrer.

“Importantly, however, these victim-witnesses have given Ms. Lively permission to share their communications in the Amended Complaint as they are laid out, and they will testify and produce documents in the discovery process,” the complaint reads. The texts are not included in the complaint to prevent the two women from being subjected to a negative response.

According to the amended lawsuit, the complaints against Baldoni were documented at the time they occurred, beginning in May of 2023. Lively’s lawyers Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb also said in a statement. “The complaint includes significant contemporaneous evidence that Ms. Lively was not alone in raising allegations of on-set misconduct more than a year before the film was edited; as well as evidence detailing the threats, harassment, and intimidation of not just Ms. Lively, but numerous innocent bystanders that have followed defendants’ retaliatory campaign.”
