Theory 3: Kate Middleton & Prince William’s marriage is on the rocks

Another theory is that Kate Middleton’s marriage to Prince William is on the rocks and the Princess of Wales is in hiding because of his alleged infidelity.

Speculation about Prince William’s alleged affair first started in 2019 following reports of a fallout between Princess Kate and Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. Rose and her husband, David Cholmondeley, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, were close friends with the Prince of Wales before the affair rumors.

Neither couple has commented on the speculation, but the allegations resurfaced as fans started raising questions about all the secrecy surrounding Kate’s health. A rumor that Prince William and Rose Hanbury are allegedly expecting a child together went viral on TikTok after user @kylemarisaroth shared a “blind item” that Kate Middleton learned that Hanbury was allegedly pregnant with William’s child around Christmas of 2023, which Hanbury planned to keep.

The rumor also claimed that the pregnancy was the alleged reason Kate hasn’t been seen in public since Christmas 2023. “I’m standing 10 toes down from the Princess of Wales because it’s giving Diana 2.0.,” the TikTok user said. Of course, there’s absolutely no proof of this.

A former royal staffer told The Daily Beast in March 2024 that William and Kate’s office at Kensington Palace find the rumors “deeply annoying, especially after comedian Stephen Colbert also discussed them in an episode of his talk show, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, on March 13. 

“It’s deeply annoying and unhelpful for the palace, but it’s not surprising that the affair rumors are being reheated. What else are people supposed to think when she sends out a photo not wearing her wedding ring?” the staffer told The Daily Beast, referencing a recent Instagram photo of Kate, which showed her without her wedding ring.

Theory 2: Kate Middleton’s alleged coma

Spanish journalist, Concha Calleja, claimed that the Princess of Wales had undergone a hysterectomy—removal of the uterus—and that “they had to intubate her” in an induced coma when she “suffered serious complications during the post-operative period,” citing she had reputable sources to back up these claims.

Calleja continued: “They were serious complications that were not expected,” she said. “What I cannot confirm is if this continues like this, if they have waited for that fifteen-day process. Her life has been in great danger. In fact, the concern in the Royal Family was palpable, it was to save lives.”

The Palace responded to the rumor, not in an official statement but via a source. “It’s total nonsense,” a palace insider told The Times. “No attempt was made by that journalist to fact-check anything that she said with anyone in the household. It’s fundamentally, totally made-up, and I’ll use polite English here: it’s absolutely not the case.”

Theory 1: Kate Middleton’s mental health is suffering

In 2017, it was revealed that Catherine suffered from Hyperemesis gravidarum, which is severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. With the help of media lawyers, I’m certain, the British news outlet has suggested, however vaguely, that the Princess might be experiencing mental health issues.

Queen Camilla’s biographer, meanwhile, made a similar connotation.
