November 9, 2025: Sources report that Zendaya & Sydney Sweeney won’t be near each other for press

A source dished to the Daily Mail that Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney will likely not appear together during press for Euphoria due to their “bitter feud” over differing political stances to the point where the Spider-Man star is “refusing” to stand next to her. “It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in because if she even stands next to Sydney on the red carpet, it can be read as her excusing Sydney’s views on Trump and her refusal to apologise for the racist ad.”

Zendaya has been a vocal opponent of Trump. During the 2020 presidential election, she posted an infographic on Instagram with the caption “vote this mfer out.”

November 4, 2025: Sydney Sweeney responds to American Eagle Ad Backlash

In a GQ cover story, Sweeney opened up about the onslaught of reactions during the American Eagle ad campaign.

“I did a jean ad. I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans,” she told the publication. “All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life… I knew at the end of the day what that ad was for, and it was great jeans, it didn’t affect me one way or the other.”

She also added that “it was surreal” to have Trump and Vance have their input on the ad. “I kind of just put my phone away,” the actress said. “I was filming every day. I’m filming ‘Euphoria,’ so I’m working 16-hour days and I don’t really bring my phone on set, so I work and then I go home and I go to sleep. So I didn’t really see a lot of it.”

She defended her silence, saying, “When I have an issue I want to speak about, people will hear.”

July 23, 2025: American Eagle features an ad with Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney starred in an American Eagle campaign for their jeans. “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,” Sweeney says in one of the ads. “My jeans are blue.”

The campaign was met with immediate criticism with people claiming it promoted white supremacy.  On his social media platform TruthSocial, Trump called the ad the “HOTTEST” out there and said, “Go get ‘em Sydney!”

July 2024: Euphoria Behind the Scenes Drama delays filming

Several entertainment publications reported that things were tense between Zendaya and Euphoria director Sam Levinson. “They went from being so close, and they couldn’t fix it,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter about how the two drifted apart after his involvement in The Idol.

Despite the rift, the publication said that Sydney Sweeney was one of the only cast members looking forward to filming. “She’s looking forward to going back to Sam Levinson’s Euphoria. She feels very strongly about Sam and his work.”

HBO confirmed Euphoria season 3 had officially begun production on February 10, 2025.
