Who does Benedict Bridgerton end up with?
Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and ends up with Sophie Beckett (who hasn’t been cast yet). The show’s third season skips the third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, which follows his story, leading fans to theorize he’ll definitely be the focus for season four.
Like Cinderella, Benedict met Sophie without knowing her name at a ball. When the clock struck midnight, she ran away and Benedict only had a glove to chase after her with. They reunite and the two madly fall in love afterward and have four children.
Fans on Reddit have suspected that Benedict might be the next Bridgerton love story to be featured on the show. “Nothing officially confirmed, all hints point towards Benedict/Sophie because logic (since he was the one skipped in first place), the Valentine’s day event had a few things that we took as he is indeed season 4,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
“I think Benedict. The actor has been so cagey and nervous in interviews. Suspiciously so,” observed another. Indeed, Thompson did tell TimeOut that Jonathan Bailey and Regé-Jean Page were his “canaries in the mine showing me how it’s supposed to be done,” hinting that he’d be season 4’s leading man.
While appearing on The View with Golda Rosheuvel on June 7, he was asked who was going to be the focus of the upcoming season. “How dare you ask me such personal questions?” Thompson joked.
“I don’t know. I know that it’s so lovely [and] that one of the best things about a TV job is you get to really explore a character long-form like that and fill him in slowly,” he explained. “So as long as I keep getting to do that.” He added: “Obviously, it would be great to dive in at one point,” he said. “But, we’ll have to wait and see!”
