Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things 5. We’re almost to the Stranger Things finale, and fans are biting their nails to figure out who’s going to die in the episodes leading up to the last episode.
Thankfully, no one major dies in volume 2 of Season 5. If anything, fans are preoccupied with theorizing one of their beloved characters dying. The Duffer Brothers told The Hollywood Reporter that we shouldn’t expect anything too drastic. “It’s not Game of Thrones,” Matt Duffer revealed. “We’re not in Westeros. I love Game of Thrones, but it’s just a very different type of show than that. There’s not going to be a Red Wedding situation. I think some things happen in the finale that are very surprising, but we’re not trying to shock or upset anyone. I hope by the time people get to the end of the finale that it just feels like there’s something inevitable about what happens, and that it doesn’t feel painful but feels satisfying.”

So, who were the people who died in episodes 4 to 7 before Operation Beanstalk, and whose death might we be seeing on screen on New Year’s Eve?
Back in Henry Creel’s memories, a Russian scientist shoots the future foe in the hand. In retaliation, Henry smashes the scientist’s head in with a rock.
Eight revealed that for her to be taken prisoner, her friends Axel, Mick, Funshine, and Dotti, were all killed by the military in the process.
While Robin explains to Vickie about what’s been happening in Hawkins in the past couple of years in the hospital, a couple of military men attempt to escort them out of the facility. However, they’re intercepted by demadogs that were sent by Vecna. And who ends up killing the demadogs? None other than Karen Wheeler.
Our beloved Steve might not get the happy ending we’re all hoping for. The Duffer Brothers teased in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about Steve’s demise. “But as for Steve’s fate. I don’t know. I can’t say. It would be the next logical step. He keeps getting beaten up more and more. The only way we could take it further is death.”
In order for everything to go back to normal, Eight argues that they must sacrifice herself with Eleven. “Don’t you see, Jane? It’s a cycle. A terrible, vicious cycle,” Kali says. “But we can stop it tonight. After we kill [Henry], after the children are rescued, we don’t leave with the others. We stay on the bridge. When the Upside Down vanishes, so will we. It is the only way, Jane. The only way.”
