The White Lotus
HBO

The White Lotus has been one of HBO’s biggest hits since its Season 1 took everyone by surprise. The black comedy anthology series, which was originally intended as a limited series, follows the guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain and their various interpersonal issues, with the show’s description promising that every day in the resort “a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel’s cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself.”

Season 1 of the show was filmed in Hawaii and Season 2 in Sicily, while Season 3 was filmed in Thailand. The show has already been renewed for Season 4. Both the first two seasons featured a murder mystery alongside social commentary, with the third season expected to do the same. But creator Mike White also promised in an interview with Time, that the season will be “much, much darker” as well as grander and more epic, he says. “I do feel like the other seasons were a rehearsal for this one.”

Fans on Reddit have expressed concern that, with the third season, the show might not be able to surprise anyone. “Arguably the main characters from seasons 1 & 2 die accidentally in the final episode of each season. Do you anticipate the same for season 3? Are we setting ourselves up for a predictable end?” one fan said, while another predicted that instead of one death there would be “multiple deaths throughout the season.”

But who exactly was involved in the murder part of the mystery in The White Lotus Season 1 and Season 2? Here’s a list.
