He died after a three-year health battle with his long-term partner by his side. So, who was Sandra Bullock’s partner Bryan Randall?

Bullock and Randall enjoyed a rather quiet relationship out of the spotlight, having met in 2015 after he photographed her son Louis’ birthday and roughly a year after she was briefly linked to fellow actor Chris Evans. “He is evolved on a level that is not human,” Bullock said in a 2021 interview with Red Table Talk. “I found the love of my life,” explaining that they never felt the need to get married to prove their love to each other. “I am someone who went through the divorce process. … It’s the best thing ever. I don’t wanna say do it like I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother.”

However, their relationship wasn’t without its ups and downs and just days before his death, tabloids reported their relationship was going through a “cooling off” period and briefly lived apart in 2022. “The feeling is Sandra might be hoping for some type of miracle — that they’ll work things out after this long cooling-off period,” a source told Us Weekly on August 2, 2023.

There doesn’t seem to be any truth to this, however, as Randall’s sister paid tribute to Bullock in an Instagram post memorializing him after his untimely death. “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon. ALS is a cruel disease but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home. Rest in peace, Bryan,” she wrote, signing off with a request: “In lieu of flowers, please donate to ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.”
