From Twisters to It Ends With Us: Where Has All the Kissing Gone in Hollywood?

It’s no secret that we all love, hate, question, and sometimes even cry at the end of a movie. One of the most profound parts of the cinematic experience is the closing scene. Known in the screenwriting world as the final act, the resolution of a movie holds the power to evoke one final emotion from viewers, priming us to feel a certain way as we exit the movie theater or close our streaming tab.

There is an ambiguous ending that makes us question everything we just watched. The jaw-dropping cliffhanger that we can’t believe we didn’t see coming. The happily-ever-after ending that allows us to dream. The bittersweet ending that while justifiable, we wish it didn’t have to be like that. The ending of a movie can make or break its reputation and fan’s opinions. Recently, a new type of moving ending has emerged, and we’re calling it the “No-Kissing” ending.
