Salary: Reportedly $15 Million, though this has been debunked

Some reports indicated Grande got paid significantly more than anyone in the cast, including Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, who is technically the lead. However, a Universal spokesperson told THR this wasn’t the case. “Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder. The women received equal pay for their work on Wicked.” The outlet reportedly confirmed this information with multiple sources familiar with the situation. There was, however, no confirmation on how much exactly the two were paid.

Salary: Reportedly $1 Million, though this has been debunked

First reports indicated Erivo was paid $1 million to Grande’s $15 million, which seemed pretty low when we also considered that Yeoh and Goldblum were reportedly paid more than her. But a new statement from Universal indicates the two were paid the same for the movie, and though there was no confirmation of a sum, it’s likely to be closer to the first reported sum for Grande than the reported sum for Erivo.

Goldblum plays The Wizard of Oz, surely an important character in a movie that’s a prequel to, you know, another movie named after him, which explains his reported salary.

Yeoh plays Madame Morrible, another relatively important role. That, plus Yeoh’s oustanding career to date might explain her reported salary.

Bailey plays Fiyero, the main love interest for both Elphaba and Glinda and though his salary is reportedly significantly lower than the main players, it’s impossible to deny how much Bailey’s star has risen in the past few years.

Salary: $350,000

Slater plays a Munchkinlander called Boq Woodsman, who is hinted to become the Tin Man we see in The Wizard of Oz. Slater first rose to fame as a theater actor, so his experience probably explains his reported salary.

Yang, better known for SNL, plays Pfannee, a student at Shiz University and one of Glinda’s friends. Seems like a low number, but it’s not bad considering Yang reportedly makes slightly more than that for the entire season of SNL, with salaries for cast members who’ve been around as long as he has reportedly around 15,000.00 an episode.

Bode plays Nessarose, the youngest sister of Elphaba, who will one day go on to become the Wicked Witch of the East. She’s the first authentic wheelchair user to play the character and reportedly was paid $250,000 for the role.
