Remember the summer when Rihanna and Calvin Harris‘ “We Found Love” was pumping from every open window, making it the unofficial soundtrack of roadtrips, roof parties, and beach days the world over? This summer, the duo’s new track, “This Is What You Came For,” teased today and out tomorrow, will be that anthem.
So far, the song has been kept remarkably under wraps, save for a 33-second clip that RiRi and Harris both posted on their Instagrams today. “Baby, this is what you came for/Lightning strikes every time she moves/And everybody’s watching her/But she’s looking at you,” Rihanna purr-sings, as the “you” gets all EDM’d out, thanks to Harris. And then it ends. And everyone is sad.
To give you an idea of how addictive the song is, let’s just say it’s easy to replay this tease four or five times in a row and be left wanting to hear it again. The sample cuts out just before some sort of epic break is about to drop, lending itself perfectly to be the kind of jam for which you roll down all the windows (or, better yet, open the sunroof or pull back the convertible top) and turn all the stereo the way up.
By the way, Taylor Swift (along with Harris) also posted the single’s art to IG last night, with the caption “OMG.” Speaking of OMG, a quick glance at her last few Instaposts reveals that a weird jacket she wore at Coachella was, in fact, just a way to tease the artwork. Ohhh. We were a little worried about that sartorial choice, Tay. But now it all makes sense.
