Here’s Selena Gomez Destroying a ‘Marry Justin Please’ Sign Onstage

Maybe she just really, really hates his face tattoo.

Maybe Selena Gomez really, really hates Justin Bieber’s new face tattoo. Or maybe she’s just sick of fans/the world speculating whether the former flames are on again or off again. Or maybe it truly is too late now to say “sorry.” Or, who knows, maybe she was just feeling feisty and wanted to make some headlines. (Done and done!) Whatever the case, Gomez left no room for doubt when she grabbed a fan’s sign that begged, “Marry Justin Please,” only to crumple it up and leave it for dead on the ground at her Fresno, California, show last night. Damn.

Girlfriend definitely went for it, too. With the “wind” whipping her hair (and fringed coat-thing), she strutted to the front of the stage and motioned for the fan to hand over the sign. At first, the sign-writer probably thought, This is my big moment! This is the part when Selena realizes that she was wrong to move on from Justin, and my amazing three-worded sign is going to be the vehicle that leads her to this observation. Selena was right when she said, “Wake up to your dreams / And watch them come true!” But—no. No, no, no.

Gomez grabbed the piece of paper, squished it in her face like a used tissue, and tossed it to the ground in the most devil-may-care way one can pull off while performing onstage in five-inch platform boots, basically treating it like a rock star would a smashed guitar.

As she told Rolling Stone in January, “Honestly, what I would love to be printed is that I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him.” Kick back and enjoy the crumpled-sign incident again (and again, from a different angle) to round out your Monday, and then envision yourself doing the same to a piece of paper entreating you to marry your ex—you know, the one you’re finally over and never looking back at. Feels pretty good, doesn’t it? Now you see where Selena’s coming from.
