Jonathan Bennett might be Finding Mr. Christmas these days, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t remember his roots. The actor, who rose to fame in the role of Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, is the host of Hallmark’s more wholesome reality show, a Bachelor-style search for the network’s next leading man. But Bennett will always have a connection to Mean Girls that makes his reaction to watching the movie all over again a must-watch.
It has not been a straight line for Bennett since Mean Girls to his Hallmark hunk days. The actor, who has become synonymous with Hallmark after appearing in his fair share of movies, including the recent The Groomsmen trilogy for Hallmark+, the network’s streaming service, wasn’t always sure there was a place for him in the business. But now, looking back, he seems to be able to look at the experiences that took him to this place in time and have fun with them.
“I’m super gay. Like, the gayest. The gayest person I know is me. When I was working with Rachel and Linday, it was like being with the most beautiful women in the world that like, are just stunning,” he says in the video, reflecting on the time that has happened since the 2004 release of Mean Girls, which has seen Bennett not just come out of the closet, but star in more than one LGBTQ+ Hallmark movies.
“When I did the scene with Rachel when I had to like, do the kiss and like pull away, I just went ‘Oooh, that’s what straight guys like,” Bennet laughs. There’s more, of course, but for that, you’re just going to have to watch.
Just in time for another episode of his new show, Finding Mr. Christmas, Bennett sat down with StyleCaster to take a look back at the movie that made him famous, and there’s nothing quite like watching him do live commentary to some of the movie’s most iconic scenes. Watch the video above to see Bennett talk about working with Rachel McAdams and Lindsay Lohan, that infamous puke scene, and October 3rd being Mean Girls Day.
New episodes of Finding Mr. Christmas release on Thursdays on Hallmark+.
