Mean Girls’ Bebe Wood Spills On Which Castmate Takes Forever To Respond To Texts
She’s part of the next generation of Mean Girls, playing Gretchen Wieners in the 2024 refreshed and musicalized version of Tina Fey’s hit movie. Now Bebe Wood has revealed which castmate takes the longest to respond to texts—and they have a valid reason for it.
Dropping into the StyleCaster studios in January 2024 the morning after the film’s New York premiere (what a trooper), Wood said her co-star Avantika, who plays the new Karen, is “really hit or miss” when it comes to getting back to her. “Sometimes she’ll respond in an instant or it’ll be days, weeks sometimes. But she’s a student at Columbia so she has some things going on, you know?”
When we asked Wood how many unread texts she has on her phone right now, she told us: “When I woke up I had like, 150 unread text messages on my phone.” Wood also said how much she hates texting and would rather send a voice memo. “I’m the only co-star that sends voice memos and everyone hates me for it,” she laughed. “I’d much rather call and so I’m the person who sends four-minute-long voice memos that literally no one is going to listen to.”
