She may be a Real Housewife, but there’s one designer accessory you’ll be hard-pressed to see Monique Samuels carrying. “Honestly, I’m not a big purse carrier. I actually do not like carrying big purses. I don’t like carrying purses at all,” Samuels told StyleCaster for our “Getting Purse-onal” series.
While Samuels—who left The Real Housewives of Potomac after Season 5 before returning in a “Friend of” role in Season 10—doesn’t like carrying around purses, she does have a few essentials she keeps on hand at all times. One of which is her essential oils from her brand, Mila Eve Essentials, which she introduced to her fellow Housewives (and viewers) in Season 10.
“I never leave home without my Mila Eve Essentials. This is actually the essential oil I wear every day, and I wear it like a perfume. This is actually the oil that was on Episode 9 where the ladies were going crazy,” she said. “Every time I walk on the scene, they’re like, ‘Ooh. What’s that? You smell so good.’ I’m like, ‘It’s Mila Eve Essentials. It’s my signature scent from my store.'”
She continued, “So this is always my purse. I get stopped a lot for that scent. It smells really delicious. If you’re on the dating scene, you definitely want to have that.”
Samuels split from her husband, Chris Samuels, in October 2022 after 10 years of marriage. She filed for divorce from him in June 2023. The two share three children together: sons Christopher Jr. and Chase Omari, and son Milani.
The changes to Samuels’ personal life were also a part of the inspiration for her upcoming book, Love Letters From Versions of Myself: A Memoir of Self-Discovery, Transformation, & Healing, out on January 4, 2026. “This started as a journal and a pen with me during the time I was writing this book,” she said. “It’s so juicy, but it’s also transformative. So if you want to have peace and become peace like me, read it.”
