In White Lotus, Natasha Rothwell brought to life the unsuspecting Belinda, a friend of Jennifer Coolidge’s eccentric Tanya, who lets her down in every way possible. In How To Die Alone, Rothwell’s new show on Hulu that she stars in and executive produces, she brings us Mel, who, according to Rothwell, “is a character that would ordinarily be relegated to the sidelines.” But Mel is anything but ordinary.

Mel is relatable, funny, and not succeeding at anything in her opinion, and that somehow makes the show comforting in a way that makes it okay not to have every part of your life in order. In the first episode, Mel has to confront her own mortality when she’s alone and chokes on crab rangoon, and is almost killed by a cabinet that falls on her. What a way to go out, but thankfully, Mel survives the crab attack and it gives her a new lease on life.

Rothwell dropped by the StyleCaster studio to chat all about her new show and gives us her hot takes on an array of topics, from Crocs to trench coats, to marriage, dating apps, and of course, dying alone. Spoiler alert, she laughs at funerals. And don’t try and stop her. She’s all about the joy. She also reveals what she believes is “kind of the best relationship you can have.” But there was one topic she wasn’t willing to disclose too much about and that is the new season of White Lotus. All she would say was how much she loves Blackpink’s Lisa, who’s in the new season. “Lalisa is the moment, she’s everything,” Rothwell went on to say, “I think it’s the confidence, there’s something internal that makes her incredibly watchable and people want to root for her.”

We asked Rothwell, who will also be producing, Who TF Did I Marry, based on the TikTok story, how she really feels about marriage, dating apps, funerals, and the concept of being alone, and of course, she dropped some straight facts. On marriage, Rothwell declares, “Hot take, it’s not for everybody, so do if you want to.” As for dating apps, “They’re designed for you to be unsuccessful, otherwise they go out of business, and they’ve been in a business for a while, so I think there’s some kind of conspiracy happening.”

Rothwell also dropped a hot take on Chappell Roan, or rather a “H-O-T-T” take, and said she would love to sing a duet with her. And what is the best relationship you could have according to Rothwell? Here’s a hint, “I don’t think they need to be pretty! They’re there for me, they’re breathable. They give me space when I need it,” Rothwell proclaims. Watch the video and find out.
