When the clock struck midnight, she ran away. Benedict did not know her name and only had a glove with which to chase after her. The woman is revealed to be a maid named Sophie Beckett and the two reunite under crazy circumstances. The rest is happily ever after.
It was widely thought that Masuli Baduza would be playing Sophie Beckett after casting rumors. However, she turned out to be playing Michaela Stirling, Francesca’s future love interest who was gender bent in the Netflix series. She’s graced the screen as the lead on Netflix’s Shadow and Bone. Jessie Mei Li has been plastered on many fan edits of Sophie Beckett on TikTok. Some fans theorized that we’ve already seen Sophie in the series! Sarah Junillon plays Eloise’s maid in season two and fans went down a rabbit hole. “S2E5 E’s new maid appears and is in 3 episodes. Actress = Sarah Junillon. That’s who I think it will be,” one TikToker commented.
Fans have been pushing for a Latina love interest in Bridgerton for a while. A viral TikTok with a classical rendition of “Gasolina” in the background advocated for a Latina Sophie. “I’m hoping it’s Miss Sophia Maria Beckett because Benedict is my fave brother in the show!” the caption read.
One TikTok comment that fan cast the Blue Beetle actress garnered thousands of likes. “SHE WOULD BE SOOOO GOOD IN THIS SHOW WAIT,” one commenter pointed out.
